From the couple:
Having met at a winery in Tasmania, we wanted to celebrate in another wine region – Napa Valley – this time with friends and family. We wanted natural, wintry florals to capture the season. The bouquet had a lovely mix of blues, greens, and other pastels. We invited a sommelier to host an “around the world” wine tasting to capture the flavors of places that are important to us – South Africa, Australia, France, and California. We also had chocolate cake! We knew we were getting married in a formal setting in winter, but we still wanted to show our personalities. So Joe chose a blue three-piece suit and brown shoes, and I chose a lacy tea-length dress with a champagne sash and champagne shoes.
We met at a winery in Tasmania. Joe was living and working there, and I was just traveling through. But Joe swept me off my feet, so I decided to stay. One year later, I proposed to Joe on the Tasman Peninsula, where we went on our first date. I was sobbing so hard, he didn’t even know I was proposing! But once we cleared that up, he gave an enthusiastic yes! The most special moment of our wedding day was sharing our vows. We each wrote our own, and we basically said the same thing to each other! Slow down and enjoy every moment. It goes too fast.
From the photographer:
The AuBerge Du Soleil is such a gorgeous venue that radiates the air of decadence. Cassandra & Joe’s AuBerge Du Soleil wedding photography really adequately represents the joy of the day, putting a smile on your face by just looking at the spread. Cassandra wore an adorable, baby-doll white, lace dress cut with a creme ribbon and a diamond tiara. Joe wore a blue suit, completed with a lilac tie. His boutonniere was tied with a light blue ribbon with hints of a darker blue, and lilac sprinkled into the flower arrangement. Cassandra’s bouquet kept in this floral theme also matching the decor and arrangements of the celebration. Their first look took place on a bridge on the Auberge property. The couple didn’t skimp us on adorable poses and smooches for their portrait session. Although this wedding took place on a December afternoon, the outdoor ceremony felt much more like springtime with the northern California, sunny weather and perfect cool breeze. At the Auberge Du Soleil’s ceremony site, you can see for miles over a vast mountain horizon as everyone is seated looking out from the wooden balcony. The ceremony gave off fairytale-like vibes as a talented string section serenaded the guests. The festivities continued in the Auberge ballroom where the couple enjoyed first dances and emotional speeches. There were many toasts, belly laughs and dance moves to be shared as the night continued on!
