About the Couple:
Amy Angelo is a professional astrologer, educator and corporate consultant who works in private practice. She graduated from Teachers College, Columbia University studying psychology with a focus on the Science of Spirituality.
Grant Steinhauser owns Spiral Haus, a San Francisco, CA gallery that sources rare and beautiful early French modernism and vintage luxury objects.
How we Met:
I met my husband the first week I moved to New York City. I was looking for an antique watering can to decorate my Soho apartment. While on a Bed Bath and Beyond shopping trip, the plastic watering cans they had in stock were not cutting it, so I typed “Antique Stores Near Me” into Google Maps and was guided to the Mantiques Modern.
There, I was greeted by a very handsome man, my now husband Grant Steinhauser, the director of the gallery. We stood alone in this enormous store, enjoying each other’s company and our connection was undeniable. He showed me a beautiful sterling silver watering can that was out of my budget, but got my number. He sent me some watering cans found on Etsy, and asked me out on a date. Three months into being together he bought the watering can he showed me the day we met, stashed it away at the gallery, and 6 years later brought it to our proposal in White Sands National Park.
Wedding Details
Our wedding took place in Sonoma Valley at St. Francis Winery. The evening was a black-tie celebration surrounded by rolling vineyards, a waxing moon held in the beauty of the valley, a candle-lit dinner on the lawn, and details that enhanced the simple, yet elegant beauty of wine country in full summer bloom. We exchanged our personal vows against the backdrop of the beautiful Mayacamas Mountains. Special friends sang songs and recited poems of spiritual significance, and our Kundalini yoga teacher officiated the wedding.
The Dress
My best friend, Dylan Mekhi, a Central Saint Martins graduate (2020) and Designer at Helmut Lang, brought my dream wedding looks to life through an exclusive custom design. We collaborated closely on every detail of the wedding dress, from the initial sketches to selecting the perfect fabric. He flawlessly brought the vision to life, even customizing ostrich feather clips to accentuate the look with a stunning statement hair piece.
Dylan also created custom dresses for five of the eight bridal party members, creating a cohesive world that brought the vision to life.
My second look of the night was a late 1920s / early 1930s English Starry Bridal gown, the same era as my Old European Cut engagement ring.
